I am a UK-based journalist/copywriter with almost 20 years' experience of writing and editing, including nine years on staff with the Guardian. I write sharp copy to order on a wide range of subjects in a variety of formats, from short and pithy promotional material to in-depth articles and reports. As a former news reporter, I appreciate the importance of meeting deadlines, and I guarantee you will get your work on time. I am a stickler for grammar (I have worked for many years as a freelance sub-editor at the Observer newspaper), and I am happy to rewrite and edit texts in all formats. I speak German, Spanish and Portuguese and translate and interpret in these languages.	On leaving university, I sought my fortune in South America and worked for several years as a foreign correspondent in Mexico and Brazil. Back in the UK, I spent nine years at the Guardian, where I researched and wrote about current affairs, lifestyle and media in Europe, and worked as a sub-editor on the foreign desk. Since going freelance in 2001, I have written for travel guides and lifestyle magazines, contributed to several books and consulted on a major report for a human rights charity.
