- Toby Venables
is a freelance scriptwriter and editorial
consultant, who regularly works in the areas of
commercial copywriting, ad creation and PR,
teaches film journalism to degree level in
Cambridge and is a BFI Associate Tutor. His
words have appeared on magazine pages, TV,
radio, the web, T-shirts, posters, and the back
end of a bus.
- He continues to
develop scripts for TV and film, and is
represented by MBA Literary Agents, London,
UK.

- Toby Venables
has been involved in publishing since 1997,
having been Editor and Creative Director of
adhoc publishing ltd - overseeing weekly
publications in Cambridge, Oxford and Bristol -
and Editor, Creative Director and co-founder of
RealCity magazine.
- For both
companies he assembled and managed editorial
teams and wrote several hundred features, as
well as ads for radio and print. He also
conducted regular interviews with subjects as
diverse as Eddie Izzard and Kevin
Spacey.
- Since becoming
freelance, clients have included 3 Mobile,
Play.com, Cambridge Folk Festival, Cambridge
Film Festival, and BAFTA nominated composers Bob
and Barn, who described his input as 'the best
PR we have ever had'.
- Regular PR
clients include Camstead Homes, Pepper Kitchens
and Side UK, a West End based audio production
company.
- Since 2004 he
has been principal copywriter for several design
houses, creating ads, brochures and brand
concepts for clients such as VisitCambridge,
Generics, City and Country, Savills, Omega
Windows, Live The City and Newmarket
Races.
- In 1999 he was
a recipient of a radio advertising award, and in
2001 won the Keats-Shelley Memorial Prize for
prose.
- In 2006 he was
made a BFI Associate Tutor and has been invited
to write for the BBC.
